Lawmakers on Wednesday said the present government is working under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for slashing the poverty rate by 14 per cent within 2021.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for building a prosperous country dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and freeing the country from poverty and starvation.
Taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the President’s address to the House, they hailed the present government for taking forward the country towards development.
Bangladesh has already entered into the lower medium income country from the less developed country (LDC) status overcoming all the three indicators, said treasury bench member AFM Ruhul Haq of Satkhira-3.
The Awami League government has taken 10 initiatives for uplifting the country, said treasury bench lawmaker Shamsul Haq Chowdhury of Chittagong- 12.
Criticizing the BNP government, he said the country is now progressing to be a middle income country under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, but a quarter is trying to go power indirectly by back door.
Bangladesh could never be a lower middle income country without Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, he said.
Terming BNP as the followers of Tikka Khan, he said opposition BNP is creating anarchy ahead of Khaleda Zia’s scheduled verdict on February 8 as they[BNP-Jammat] are destructive force and want to destroy the country.
