Govt working for ensuring dev, dignity of women

The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for ensuring overall socioeconomic development of the women and establishing their full dignity in the society.
Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia, MP, Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, said this at the triennial conference of Pirganj upazila unit of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League as the chief guest on Friday afternoon.
Acting President of Pirganj upazila unit of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League Johra Begum presided over the conference held at Pirganj upazila parishad auditorium in the upazila town.
President of district unit of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League Advocate Shafia Rahman, its General Secretary Rosy Rahman and General Secretary of Pirganj Upazila Awami League Tazimul Islam Shamim attended the conference as the special guests.
Local leaders of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League including Assistant Professor Mahmuda Begum, Rawshan Ara Begum Rina, Rehana Begum, Anjuman Ara Begum Anju and Awami League leaders Anwarul Islam Mannu, Ruhul Amin and Santosh Kumar Saha addressed.
In her speech, Advocate Dalia said the womenfolk have been contributing equally like men in all sectors for developing the country to build a middle income nation through realising the Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The present government has launched quota system for jobs of the women, maternity leave with allowance, free education up to degree level, sub-stipends for female students, allowances for older citizens, divorcees, physically challenged people, vulnerable group feeding and other social safety net programmes for the women, she said.
As a result of taking of various epoch-making steps by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a women renaissance has been created in the country in attaining sustainable development of the women with their dignity, she added.
Later, the conference unanimously elected Johra Begum and Assistant Professor Mahmuda Begum as the President and General Secretary of Pirganj upazila unit of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League respectively and decided to declare the names of other members of the new committee.
