Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said the government will not create any obstruction to any movement after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr if it is carried out in a democratic and constitutional way. But, he said the government will go for tough action if anybody tries to create anarchy in the country in the name of movement and none will be spared in this regard. The minister said this on Friday while inaugurating as the chief guest the extension building of Savar Upazila Parishad. Advocate Quamrul Islam said, “The government that came to power following the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman handed over arms to the students to ruin them. The students were used for terrorist activities then. For this reason, Bangabandhu’s dream for building a golden country could not be translated into reality.” However, the minister said the present government has been working relentlessly for the development of the country. “We have to work together to free the society from the grip of drug addiction,” Quamrul Islam said.
Pointing at BNP, the minister said, “In all the democratic countries round the world, everybody works together for the sake of country’s development. Let’s set an instance in this regard.” Savar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Quamrul Islam presided over the function, also attended, among others, by local MP Dr Enamur Rahman, Upazila Parishad chairman Kafil Uddin and former vice-president of Chhatra League Manjurul Alam Rajib.
