UNB, Dhaka :
The government has withdrawn all types of duty on coal import in an effort to make the coal import process easier.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said this on Thursday when leaders of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) led by its President Syed Nasim Manzur met him at his Secretariat office.
Tofail said, the businesspeople are availing themselves of all necessary supports from the government to help flourish the country’s industrial sector. He also said the government is giving priority to withdrawal of duty on fire safety equipment import for ensuring a safe industrial sector.
The MCCI leaders urged the government to reopen all the mills and factories, including jute mills that remained closed. Senior Commerce Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamoon was also present.
