Govt will always remain beside flood victims: Smriti

Gaibandha-3 constituency’s (Sadullapur- Palashbari upazila) lawmaker Umme kulsum Smriti said the government led by
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would remain beside the flood victims like past.
The government is providing reliefs among flood affected people as huge relief materials are also in stock for distribution, she said.
The lawmaker made the comments while talking to the flood affected people of Kishoregari union of Palashbari upazila in the district on Thursday.
Necessary measures have been taken to distribute relief materials to the flood victims of the union to mitigate their sufferings, she also said.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin, executive engineer of BWDB Mokhlasur Rahman, upazila chairman AKM Moksed Chowdhury Bidyut, Polashbari UNO Kamruzzaman, general secretary of upazila Awami League vice principal Samikul Islam Lipon and other political leaders including UP chairman accompanied the MP at that time.
Officials of BWDB said the Karotoa river basin areas have been flooded due to onrush of hilly water from upstream and continuous heavy rainfall in last few days.
Due to the flood, the homesteads and the roads of the areas have been submerged creating untold sufferings to the people.
Many flood victims have taken shelter on the higher places and were passing their days and nights in hardship.
The standing crops like T-aman paddy, sugarcane fields, and vegetable land went under flood water making the farmers more worried about the fate of the crops and their food security.
