Govt vows to modernise fire services: Asad

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said the government would do everything to make the Fire Service and Civil Defence department modern with world class equipments.
“Under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the process of establishing fire station in every upazila was underway…By 2016 there would be 552 fire stations in the country and work force would be doubled with updated equipments,” he said. He said as the chief guest at a concluding programme of the orientation course of 150 firefighters at Fire Service and Civil Defence Complex in city’s Mirpur area.
He asked the members of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence to work with honesty and utmost professionalism for the welfare of the country.
“You’ll stand beside distressed people in case of any disaster and accident as their trusted friends and that’s your sacred duty and responsibility,” he said. The minister also said the members of the Fire Service are also given necessary trainings in home and abroad. Later, he witnessed a parade of the members of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence and inaugurated a language club for the firefighters. Senior Secretary of home ministry Mozammel Huque Khan was present among others.
