UNB, Dhaka :
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday alleged that the government is using the law enforcers like its ‘party cadres’ in carrying out mass killings and wholesale arrest.
“When the entire nation is vocal against the government that usurped state power through the January-5 farcical election, it has become more desperate and impatient,” he said in a statement. The statement was issued strongly protesting and condemning the arrests of Satkhira’s Kalaroa than unit BNP joint general secretary and union parishad chairman Rabiul Islam and the same unit BNP publicity affairs secretary Abdur Razzak. The BNP spokesman said the country’s people are passing through a very tough time due to the government’s limitless failure to deliver, repressive acts, corruption, terrorism and vengeful attitude. He claimed the people of Bangladesh had never ever seen in the past such a conflicting situation, brazen politicisation of law enforcement agencies, barbaric and atrocious state terrorism mass killing, disappearance, arrest and abduction of opposition leaders and activists since the country’s independence. Fakhrul accused the government of instigating the law enforcers and ruling party ‘cadres’ to openly attack the opposition leaders and activists and common people.
“The arrests of Rabiul Islam and Abdur Razzak have demonstrated the current unrepresentative government’s shameless provocation to the police” he added.
He demanded the government immediately release the two BNP leaders without any condition.
