Speakers at view exchange programme urged the government to preserve the country’s archaeological sites with a view to flourishing the tourism.
They said this at a view exchange programme held in the Archaeology Department Auditorium in the city’s Agargaon organised by South Asia Tourism Infrastructure Development Project (SATIDP), Bangladesh portion.
Director General of Archaeology Department Md Altaf Hossain inaugurated the programme while Senior Project Officer of ADB Elma Morshed, Director of Bangladesh Tourism Board Bhuban Chandra Biswas, Director of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Shahadat Hossain, Marketing and Promotion Specialist of SATIDP Mofazzel Hossain, Managing Director of Tour Planners Faridul Haque, Managing Director of Journey Plus Towfiq Rahman, Bengal Tours’ Masud Hasan and River Green’s Mohiuddin Helal spoke the programme.
The speakers put emphasis on preservation, renovation and advertisement of the country’s archaeological sites to attract the foreign tourists. The Cultural Affairs Ministry had renovated by this time Paharpur in Naogaon, Mahasthangarh in Bogra and 60-tomb mosque in Bagerhat. Food cote, roads and rest houses have also been constructed.
Project Director of SATIDP Abu Bakar Siddique and Senior Project Officer of ADB Elma Morsheda delivered lecturers and answered speakers’ inquiries.
