Senior ruling party MP Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim on Saturday urged the government to go tough on Hefazat-e-Islam men saying that they are against Islam, independence and country.
“They (Hefazat-e-Islam) are anti-Islam, militants, anti-Liberation force and they are enemy of the state, they should not be spared, (government should) be tough on them, if necessary they should be tried through forming a tribunal,” he said.
The Awami League MP said this in Parliament while speaking on the point of order.
He also demanded quick investigation into and trial in the cases lodged after May 5, 2013 against ‘Hefazat militants and terrorists.’
He said that people of the country are with the Prime Minister and requested her to be tougher against Hefazat.
“This evil force should not be spared,” he added.
Sheikh Selim said that the defeated force of 1971 who could not accept the Independence of Bangladesh carried out violence in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria during the 10-day programme for celebrating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Golden Jubilee of the Independence.
He alleged that BNP and Jamaat men were with the Hefazat activists.
Urging the government to go tough on these ‘hooligans’ he said that the government must take tough stance them as these can’t continue in any independent country.
