Govt undertook steps for dev of Mongla

Present government has undertaken some epoch making steps for the overall development of Mongla, the 2nd Sea Port of the country and as its continuity a surface water treatment plant is being constructed at the port area at a cost of Tk.25 crores in order to meet the requirement of pure drinking water of the port.
After the completion of the under construction water treatment plant some 50 lakh liters pure drinking water will be supplied to the port area every day. Consequently, the requirement of pure drinking water in Mongla port and its concerned will be fulfilled.
When the supply of the pure drinking water will be started from the water treatment plant a significance change will be taken place in the life style of the users of the port, the port authorities, its employees and the working people of the government and non-government offices in and around the port areas, it is expected by the well-informed circle.
It is learnt from a source of Mongla Port Authorities that the surface water treatment plant is being constructed at Digraj Mor by the side of Khulna-Mongla Highway, 5 kilometers off Mongla Port Bhaban (Building). It will cost Tk.24 crores 73 lakh 50 thousand.
The plant is being constructed by a private construction farm named Titas. The construction work of the plant started in the year of 2018 and 90 per cent piling work of the reservoir of the water treatment plant was already completed while the construction work of its boundary wall is near completion. The construction work of the surface (water treatment) plant will be completed in the middle of the year 2021 if every thing is OK during the period.
A source of the port authorities also disclosed that after the completion of the water treatment plant the requirement of pure drinking water of the officials and employees of the port authorities, working people of the different Govt. and non-government offices and the staff of the foreign ships.
It may be mentioned here that acute scarcity of pure drinking water has been prevailing at the port area since its inception (1953) as it is situated in the coastal area. People of the port area have been suffering a lot of inconveniences for want pure drinking water for long.
