The BNP on Monday alleged that the government tried to hide coronavirus infection case.
“The Awami League government tried to hide the coronavirus infection cases in Bangladesh. But, when some foreign guests denied to join the ‘Mujib Borsho’ programme, the government then become compel to disclose the incident,” said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir while addressing in a book publishing programme at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.
The programme organized by Universal Academy on the occasion of publication ceremony of two books written by BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.
Professor Dr. Emajuddin Ahmed, former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University presided over the programme.
Former VC of DU, Anwar Ullah Chowdhury, former VC of Jahangirnagar University, Dr. Mustahidur Rahman, BNP Standing Committee Members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Abdul Moeen Khan,
Nazrul Islam Khan and Publisher of the Universal Academy, Shihab Uddin, among others, were present.
The BNP Secretary General said there is huge lacking of the government’s preparation to control coronavirus spreading in the country.
He asked the government to take adequate measures to screen all passengers in air, sea and land ports.
The BNP leader accused the government of keeping the party Chief Begum Khaleda Zia in jail only for their vengeance.
He demanded Khaleda Zia’s release immediately from the jail.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently said at a programme that ‘a quarter tried to establish that one Major whistled a tune and the liberation war and the independence occurred.’
Criticizing PM Hasina’s speech, Mirza Fakhrul said, “But the reality was that the whole nation become united and start liberation war after hearing the tune of the certain Major, while some of you (Awami League leaders) were fleeing from country, some of you were surrendered to Pakistani security forces.
