Economic Reporter :
The Agriculture Ministry will subsidize over Tk 2,575 crore for buying about 51,300 agri- machineries as no alternative way but to mechanization to commercialize the sector.
The project will be implemented through Integrated Management of Agricultural Mechanization project.
The agri-machineries are 15,500 combine harvesters for paddy and wheat, 4,000 reapers, 2,000 reaper binders and 3,000 rice transponders, 5,000 cedars or bed posterns, 5,000 power threshers, 5,000 maze shellers and 5,000 dryers.
Besides, 2000 power sprayers, 500 power weeders, 3000 potato diggers, 300 carrot washers and 1000 potato chips will be provided to the farmers.
The cost of the project will be around Tk 2,575.15 crore which is 86 percent of the project. The price of the product will be fixed logically and verifiably as there has been a question mark over the purchase of some utensils goods worth only Tk 61 lakh recently.
Some special expenditure-VAT, Tax, transportation– associated with the government procurement makes price difference between the government and consumer level. Normally, in purchasing at government’s level, the coast of any product is 30-35 percent higher than the consumer price.
It has been seen in fixing the purchase price of Boti with high quality wooden frame for cutting fish and water drums, which will used for training around 200 people at a residential area.
The actual price of a big size boti is Tk 6000-7000 and adding vat, tax and other expenditure, the price of the boti was fixed at Tk 8000-9000. Similarly, with the special expenditure, the prices of the drums were fixed Tk 7000-8000 and the maximum expenditure was fixed at Tk1000 at the DPP of the project.
In purchasing of the agri-machineries, the authority will take highest measures to reduce the prices and the lowest bidder will get the work order, related officials said.
