Govt to set up cultural centres in Kolkata, London

Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith said the government would take initiatives to set up cultural centres in important cities of different countries, including in Kolkata and London, to project the country’s culture abroad.
“The rich folk cultural heritage of Bangladesh should be projected and highlighted before the world people. As a part of it, the government would take initiatives to build cultural centres in different cities including in Kolkata and London,” he said.
The minister said this on Friday while inaugurating as the chief guest a two-day Radharamon Music Festival on the premises of Shilpakala Academy in the city.
Jointly organised by Radharamon Sangskrity Charcha Kendro and Shilpakala Academy, the inaugural ceremony of the music festival was chaired by director general of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky.
The function was addressed, among others, by eminent artist Hashem Khan, cultural personality Ramendu Mazumder, Poet Dr Harisul Huq, director of music, dance and recitation section of Shilpakala Academy Sohrab Uddin, president of Radharamon Sangskrity Charcha Kendro Mahmud Selim and general secretary and vocalist (music) Biswajit Roy.
After the inaugural session, artistes of Radharamon Sangskrity Charcha Kendro rendered the immortal and popular songs of noted Boul Poet and lyricist-music composer Radharamon.
