The government will return the cheque for TK 3 crore sponsored by Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd (IBBL) for organising ‘Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla’ program. The government took the decision after heavy criticism for taking Islami Bank’s sponsorship in the national anthem singing program. Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry Arijit Chowdhury (Bank and Financial Institutions) confirmed this through a statement on Sunday. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has decided to organise a program inviting three lakh people to sing the national anthem together on March 26 at the National Parade Ground marking the country’s Independence Day.
