Govt to provide support to IT students to take part in ACM-ICPC contest: Palak

State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government would provide all out support to IT students for participation in the ACM-ICPC contest globally.
“We have provided Taka 5 lakh to each participant of the 27th International Olympiad in Informatics to be held in Kazakhstan, as inspiration,” he said, while speaking at a reception and award giving ceremony as the chief guest at BCC in the city on Friday.
Chaired by secretary of ICT division Shyam Sundar Sikder, the ceremony was also addressed, among others, by Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology and Professor Dr Mohammad Kaikobad of Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology as special guests.
The state minister said the government has decided to arrange high school level computer programme contest doom class-VI to XII before this June at six points in seven divisions across the country.
“We will also organise a five-day training programme to make trainers for strengthening IT in the country,” Palak added.
Meanwhile, the government signed agreement for setting up Hi-Tech Park at Gazipur to produce around 70,000 skilled workforce, he said.
Professor Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said the IT expert students need only institutional inspiration and recognition for further development in their professional fields.
