The government is set to provide the fourth generation (4G) services from the first week of July next, sources at BTRC said.
“A policy decision has been taken to provide the 4G service from the first week of July next. All kinds of processes to provide 4G licence to the mobile operators will be completed by the current month,” Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood told The New Nation.
Prime Minister’s Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy chaired the meeting over several important issues of the post and telecommunications sectors, including 4G service, he informed.
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim and its Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder and high officials of the Ministry were present at the meeting.
