Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan said the government will procure 20 dredgers at a cost of Taka 2048 crore for improving navigability of rivers across the country.
“Presently, Taka 1150 crore worth dredging works are ongoing in 53 waterways of the country,” he said while inaugurating dredging work in the Brahmaputra River at Langalbandh of Naraynganj.
Noting that the present government had procured 14 dredgers during its previous term, the minister said the country’s river are getting back lives due to massive dredging work around the country.
