The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday approved the procurement of 241,710 electric poles for expanding consumer connection under rural electrification.
The poles will be used for providing connection to 1.8 million consumers.
The procurement of 241,710 poles will require a total of Taka 467.38 crore, said M Nurul Karim, additional secretary of the cabinet division, after the meeting at the secretariat. Of the total electric poles, 12,650 will be wooden and 229,060 will be SPC pole.
M/S Nordic Woods Limited has been given the work order for the wooden pole involving Taka 25.80 crore.
Besides, seven firms have been given the work order for 229,060 SPC poles under separate packages.
Apart from the three proposals of pole procurement, the CCGP has also approved another four proposals in the meeting. The proposals are Machine Readable Passport (MRP) home delivery for Saudi Arabia expatriates, conductor (Insulated) procurement under the 1.8 Million Consumer Connection through Rural Electrification Expansion project involving Taka 16.25 crore, Conductor (Bare) Procurement under the 1.8 Million Consumer Connection through Rural Electrification Expansion project involving Taka 90.70 crore and Supply, Installation and Maintenance of Disaster Recovery System for Bangladesh Election Commission under the Identification System for Enhancing Access to Service Project involving Taka 57.51 crore.
