The government will import 1.6 million tonnes of crude oil and 5.85 million metric tonnes of refined oil to meet the growing demand of the country.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved two separate proposals in principle for importing the crude oil and refined oil for the year 2022, reports BSS.
The approval came from the 31st meeting of the CCEA this year held on Thursday virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin said that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would import 1.60 million metric tonnes of crude oil for this year from Saudi ARAMCO and ADNOC, Abu Dhabi under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM), reports BSS.
He also informed that BPC under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would import another 5.85 million tonnes of refined fuel oil also for this year.
