LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam today told House that the government is implementing One House One Farm (Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar) project at the ward level across the country aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting poor families to form associations.
Under the scheme, in all 40,527 farms are being set up at the ward level in all upazilas across the country, he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member M Abdullah in the House.
“The One House, One Farm’ project is a committed project of the Prime Minister to set up ‘Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar’ across the country for alleviating poverty,” the minister said.
The minister said the core aim of the government is to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable development by providing capital formation assistance to poor farming families and sharpening their skills to form associations.
In this regard, a total of 128 cooperative associations have been set up at Ramgati and Kamolnagar upazilas in Luxmipur district, from which 30,435 people are getting benefit, he said.
“The government floated a fund of Taka 4,66,95,000 for the people of the two upazilas, of which 1,366 small farms have been set up with Taka 1,34,73,000,” Syed Ashraful Islam added.
