Govt to honor martyrs by planting 3m saplings: Anisul

Environment and Forests Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud on Sunday said the government planned to plant some three million saplings to honor the martyrs of the Liberation War.
“To honour the three million martyrs in the Liberation War we have planned to plant three million saplings across the country on the occasion of tree fair and tree plantation campaign which would be started on July 18,” he said at a press briefing at the Secretariat here.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the campaign at Bangabandhu International Conference Center on the day, said a press release.
This year the theme of the programme is “Live in green, save green, nature decorate with green”.
Mahmud call upon all people of the country to help the government to plant saplings in memory of the martyrs and this initiative would help bringing a new dimension in the campaign.
