State Minister for Finance M A Mannan said the government will give many new salary awards including new salary scale to the officers and employees of the government.
Terming the proposed salary scale to the government employees as the biggest ever, Mannan mentioned that the example of enhancing allowance and salary for the government employee will continue in future.
The Minister said this while addressing as the chief guest at the 18th inter club competition of customs, excise and Vat on Saturday morning.
Mannan said the present government believes in overall development of the country not only in the development of roads and bridges.
“We want an overall national development and to use all the time for development of our motherland,” he added.
The minister also said that the government under the leadership of Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina is relentlessly working to free the country from the curse of terrorism, militancy and fundamentalism.
The Minister hoped that the new pay scale for the government employees would be implemented from July 1.
The state Minister for finance urged the government employees to work relentlessly to turn the country into a middle income one within 2021.
The Eighth Pay and Service Commission has recommended doubling of the salaries for civil servants on the average in its report submitted to the finance minister today.
According to the recommendations, the minimum basic pay for civil servants will be now Tk 8,200 while the maximum pay would be Tk 80,000 – a 100% raise.
Chairman of the National Board of Revenue Golam Hossain and senior officials of customs, excise and Vat, among others, addressed the function as special guests.
A total of 900 NBR employees from all over the country attended the function.
