As one in every three citizens in the country suffers from some sort of liver diseases, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleaque said the government would scale up the treatment network of liver ailments to cope with the problems.
“We are not away from the concerns of liver patients. So we would expand the treatment for liver patients across the country so that people of the grass-root level can receive proper medical support at nearby hospitals,” he said.
The minister said this on Monday while inaugurating the indoor and endoscopy services at Sheikh Russel Gastro Liver Institute and Hospital at Mohakhali in the city, said a press release.
Director of the hospital Professor Dr. Faruque Ahmed presided over the programme while Director General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad, former Director of the hospital Prof Mahmud Hasan, Director of Cancer Hospital Professor Mobarok Hossain were present, among others.
