The government today gave the go-ahead to the import of 33.6 lakh metric million British thermal units (MMBTUs) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) worth Tk 340.62 crore.
State-owned Petrobangla will bring in the super-chilled fuel from Switzerland’s AOT Trading AG. Earlier on February 18, the government approved two proposals to buy a total of 67.2 lakh MMBTUs of LNG from spot market for Tk 623.64 crore.
Vitol Asia Pte Ltd of Singapore was scheduled to supply the fuel.
