The government will buy seven lakh tonnes of Boro paddy and six lakh tonnes of rice from the growers from May 5 to August 31 of this year.
The Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Sunday said this in his secretariat office after a meeting with the food planning and monitoring committee.
The government will buy six lakh tons of rice from the farmers with per kilograms Tk 32.
In it the paddy will by paddy at Tk23 per kilogram and rice at Tk 32 only. Their production costs are Tk 20.70 and Tk 29 respectively.
