Govt to build ‘Bangabandhu Nat’l Labor Institute’ in Tongi

The government has taken initiatives to set up an international standard ‘Bangabandhu National Labor Institute’ in Tongi, outskirts of the capital Dhaka in the coming days.
Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Labour Goutom Kumar told BSS recently about this.
“This institute will be constructed between January, 2022 and 2024 at the site of the current industrial relations academy (Shilpa Somporko Shikkhayoton) on the banks of Turag River in Tongi aiming to increase the industrial production of the country through amicable relations between the workers and the employers of the country,” he said.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Munnujan Sufian told BSS that alongside setting up the international standard national labor institute in the country, several projects would be taken for the betterment of the labors in the days to come.
Director General (Additional Secretary) of the Department of Labour also said that the Department of Labour started its journey in 1921 and therefore, it will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2021.
Around 27 different project proposals have been prepared by the Department of Labour and submitted to the Ministry of Labor aiming to make the labour department modern in the events of the golden jubilee of the country’s independence and the Mujib Year, he added.
