Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on Wednesday said the government would ensure all sorts of humanitarian assistances for the Rohingya people.
Supervising officers have been appointed for 20 blocks of Kutupalong Rohingya camp to facilitate humanitarian assistance activities, Maya said while speaking at a meeting at the Cox’s Bazar Circuit House.
The meeting was informed that the government would build 1,50,00 sheds with the assistances of local and foreign NGOs for the Rohingya people. Of the sheds, 70,000 have already been erected.
One administrative unit and one warehouse would be set up in each of the 20 blocks to make easier rendering all kinds of services to the Rohingya people, the meeting was informed.
“We have already appointed officers for each of the 20 blocks of Kutupalong camp to supervise the overall humanitarian supports to the Rohingyas. They will be entrusted with the responsibility of assisting the district administration and army to distribute reliefs, building sheds for accommodation and ensuring medical services, sanitation and pure drinking water along with looking into the security matter,” Maya said.
“The officers will stay in camp areas round-the-clock and assist the people concerned in registering the names of the Rohingyas.” he added.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave them (Rohingyas) shelter on humanitarian grounds and the Rohingyas will be given all possible humanitarian assistances required for their survival,” he stated.
The minister asked all the people concerned to remain alert so that the Rohingya people could not spread out from the camp and contribute to the deterioration of law and order.
A new fire station would be set up in the camp area very soon. The Rohingyas, who are living scattered in different places, will be brought inside the camps.
