Govt to bring economic zones under digital connectivity

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has said work was underway to bring the country’s economic zones under digital connectivity to prepare for the future 5G-dependent industries.
 “Digital connectivity is the highway of civilization … work is underway to bring all economic zones of the country under Five-G connectivity,” the Minister said this while addressing a virtual function on the occasion of distribution of education grants to the children of BTCL employees from BTCL Welfare Fund in Dhaka on Sunday.
The Minister stressed the importance of playing a supportive role in creating useful human resources as well as doing humanitarian work saying, “There will be a crisis in future for skilled human resources in the telecom sector. General education is not sufficient in creating the necessary human resources to meet the demand.”
Terming BTCL’s initiative as timely the minister said the objective would not be achieved if new technology could not be integrated with the conventional education,” it added.
 Education grants were distributed among the children of 172 employees of BTCL Central Office on the occasion.
 BTCL Managing Director Rafiqul Matin presided over the function.
 BTRT Chairman Shyamsunder Sikder and Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmud along with senior officials of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and representatives of its subordinate departments and agencies were present.
