The government would empower 10 million women through the ‘Info Lady’ or ‘Information Apa’ projects as Digital Bangladesh and Women Empowerment projects out of the 10 initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were very much significant.
“All the dreams of Prime Minister will be implemented through ‘Information Apa’ project. All concerned will have to be sincere for implementation of the project,” Secretary of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Kamrun Nahar said.
She said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of 15-day training course of the newly appointed upazila information service officers under ‘Information Apa’ project on Saturday at National Institute of Local Government in the city’s Agargaon.Project Director (Additional Secretary) Meena Perven said the government launched information service centres at 490 upazilas across the country aimed at providing information services to women folks. The government has recruited one information service officer and two assistants for information service at each centre. These officials and assistants will provide information services to the door steps of people. Presided over by Director of Local Government Institute (additional secretary) Md Golam Yahya, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Executive Director (Additional Secretary) of the National Women Organisation Jahanara Parvin.
