Govt takes adequate measures to tackle corona in Magura

Corona virus was detected in the country on March 8, in view of which the government declared 10 days general holidays effective from March 26. Offices, business enterprises, educational institutions, and all kinds of transports fell into the lockdown with instruction to all to respect the health guidelines, says the press release.
As a result, to help the poor and the people of the low-income group, rice, pulse, edible oil, potato, salt, sugar and other foodstuff were distributed among 4,25,768 families. About Tk 1,66,31,000 were disbursed in cash in four upazilas of Magura district, sources said.
Till 6th July, 1,200 metric tonnes of rice among 64,150 families, Tk 83,76,000 in cash and PPE were given to 74,018 families in tthe district. Besides, 7000 packets of foodstuff for Tk 30 lakh, PPE of Tk three lakh and 75 thousand in cash were given on behalf of the Magura District Council.
MP Saifuzzaman Shikhor from Magura-1 Constituency, moved from one end to the other to encourage the affected people with foodstuff and others as may be necessary. He distributed 24,600 packets’ special package, cash Tk 41,34,000 and one lakh pieces of PPE till May 1. The MP distriobuted 6000 pieces of mask through the Juba League.
The district Awami League General Secretary Pankaj Kundu distributed on behalf of the party 75,000 taka in cash, 1,500 packets foodstuff and PPE.
