The government has selected 65 industrial hubs across the country to provide uninterrupted and quality electricity supply and help boost their overall output and the country’s overall economic growth.
State-run Power Cell surveyed out the hubs, where total electricity demand is about 2820 MW
32 of these industrial hubs are located around Dhaka where electricity demand is about 1289 MW.
To facilitate smooth electricity supply in industries around the capital, the government mulls to segregate 32 industrial hubs into five industrial clusters.
Among the industrial clusters, the government has planned to select Gazipur industrial cluster as a pilot one to collect electricity-related data elaborately, which include overall demand and consumption, overloaded transformers, number of captive power plants etc.
These were revealed during a meeting held Thursday to develop a strategy for application of “Big Data Analysis and Sample Survey” for improving the quality of power supply to the industrial clusters around Dhaka city.
