Govt schools, colleges getting new name in Ullapara

The name of a college and a girl’s high school and college are allegedly being changed in Ullapara Upazila under Sirajganj district . Also name of a student hall have also been changed and the change of name of two more educational old and traditional institutions are in process after the approval of the Ministry of Education.
In 2018 Ullapara College and in 2019 Hamida Pilot Girls High School and College were renamed as HT Imam College and HT Imam Girls School and College, respectively. Hamida Pilot Girls’ High School was established in 1963 and Ullapara College was established in 1995. Also the name of the student hall was named after MP `Tanvir Imam, son of the HT Imam of Ullapara and his wife Mahim Imam. On the other hand, the process of changing the names of `Government Akbar Ali College, which was established in 1970 to `Sheikh Russel Government College’ and `Momena Ali Science School’, and associate educational institution of Ullapara Science College, to `Ismat Imam Science School’ is underway. Also the name of 1Momena Ali Chhatri Hall’ (2003) of the same college was changed to `Mahim Imam Chhatro Hall’.
Sources in the Ministry of Education said , a request has been made to the Ministry to change the name of one of Ullapara’s largest educational institutions, `Government Akbar Ali College and one of the best schools under Rajshahi Board `Momena Ali School’. He established `Akbar Ali College’ in his own `name in l5 which was the official A.
The battle is over. Founder of the two educational institutes is former BNP MP of Ullapara (1991 and 2001) M Akbar Ali. He funded Akbar Ali College’ in his own name in 1970 which was brought under government activities in 1984.
 It was proposed to change the name of the college to `Sheikh Russell Government College’ and `Momena Ali Science School’ to `Ismat Imam Science School’. The Ministry of Education has sought views from the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Rajshahi on the renaming of the two educational institutions, following an application by the Ministry of Education.
