With a plan that ensures by leveraging technology, a digital curriculum will make education ubiquitous for young learners across Bangladesh, the government has introduced digitalization in education curriculum to transform the youths into skilled human resources.
This approach of the government was elucidated by Post and Telecommunication Minister Mostafa Jabbar on Thursday night, making it clear that digital technology is gradually replacing educational methods, said a press release on Friday.
Jabbar, regarded as a forerunner in the country’s digitalization, credited the youths as the frontline warriors of the global technological revolution, bringing to the fore the reality that the youths are facing challenges in the global job markets due to mismatching between the global digital livelihood and the Bangladesh’s education system.
“We have set off the journey of digitalization inthe education system to transform the youths as the skilled workforce which would help the country make its mark in every sphere”, the minister said at a webinar, organized by Youth Empowerment Facilitation-global.
The webinar endorsed the justifiability of reinforcing traditional method of teaching and learning with new-age learning tools, powered by a digital curriculum, to enable students to acquire knowledge at their own pace.
The minister went on saying that the government has started working to remove digital divide between urban and rural areas to ensure equal digital facilities for all citizens as this was launched for the first time in the country by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with her prudent leadership in 2008. Jabbar depicted the real scenario of the global job markets where Bangladeshi youths are venturing out to seize the jobs or opportunities with feeble hope, confronting challenges in every step for lack of digital education system in the country.
Alongside the government initiatives, the minister also urged the concerned teachers and guardians and the private sector operators to come forward and work jointly to help reap the benefits of this technological upheaval gripping the world.
The digitalization- the digital devices and high speed internet-is now being widely sought by the primary students in the remote rural areas when people have engaged themselves in digital communication spree,Jabbarobserved.
