Chandpur Correspondent :
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said, since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to see a ‘corruption- free country and she has political farsightedness and enough courage’, corruption in many sectors has come to a halt.
Corruptions are now less in our country compared with many countries in the world. Besides, due to digital system, she again said, corruptions are now mostly visible to all which is another factor for reducing corruptions in many sectors.
She said this while addressing as Chief Guest the installation ceremony of the new Executive Committee for 2020 of Chandpur Press Club on Friday evening at the Press Club premises.
She has specially mentioned that she is closely connected with ‘journalist’s family’ because of her father MA Wadud (1952’s Language Veteran) who was close to Bangabandhu and the daily Ittefaq because of his active politics. She termed the journalists ‘as my brothers’. She again termed the journalists as ‘my close kin’ too. She has however said, ‘We have done a lot of works. But still we have miles and miles to go’ and that is possible through giving your votes in favour of Nauka under the leadership of Sk Hasina. She has called upon the teachers ‘to give world class quality teaching to the students’ so that they can come out with flying colours keeping pace with outside world people and thus they can enhance Bangladesh’s image bright abroad. Again she said, Chandpur town protection embankment and the river bank embankments from Chandpur up to Jaliarchar (Haimchar) may be made permanently protected so that it can be turned into ‘an attractive tourist spot for travellers of Dhaka and remote areas who can come to Chandpur comfortably by launch and go back in the afternoon breathing fresh air’ through making pleasure trips. She has also urged the concerned authorities to make the ‘derelict canals’ in Chandpur town ‘free from trash, dirts, and grabbers / illegal occupants’ so that they can be turned into Lakes like Hatirjheel in Dhaka, where town dwellers and young ones can spend leisure time in the afternoons and evenings. For this purpose, she has called upon all towns people to make Chandpur a pollution free- town and help the Municipal authority try to make it a ‘town of flower gardens’ as she pointed out, ‘ due to mindless throwing/dumping of garbages here and there by unconscious citizens many parts of this town often become polluted and ‘ places of dustbins’ which more often , hurts and worries her’. She has urged the people to avoid using plastic items and polythenes to ensure good environment and to make the society livable for all and next generations .
Newly -elected Press Club President Iqram Chowodhury presided over while AL’s Information and Research Secretary Dr Selim Mahmud was the special guest on the occasion. In the function, special prayer was offered for the quick recovery of Dipu Moni’s husband Barrister Tawfiq Newaj. The function accorded warm receptions to two illustrious sons of the district Dr Shamir K Saha (Hero of Bill Gets-2020) and renowned social worker Joynal Abedin Majumder who was recently adjudged by the Government as the Best Person Interested in Education of the district.
Acting DC Jakir Hossain, Acting SP Mizanur Rahman, Hero of Bill Gets-2020 Prof Dr Shamir K Saha, Joynal Abedin Majumder, AL District Secretary Abu Nayeem Patwary Dulal , Press Club Secretary AHM Ahsanullah among others spoke on the occasion.
