State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki on Friday said the government is protecting the rights of the girl children.
The State Minister said this while inaugurating the programmes arranged for marking the National Girl Child Day-2017, at National Museum here jointly organized by Bangladesh Shishu Academy and National Girl Child Advocacy Forum.
The state minister said the government is working sincerely by giving equal importance on all spheres including education so that boys and girls could be groomed up with world-class quality and the country achieve middle-income status.
She added the government has taken various programmes including constitution of adolescent clubs and formulating act to stop early marriage for protecting the rights of the girl child.
Many families in the country are still giving importance on the male child that is not good at all, said the state minister, adding that “the government is creating awareness for society where there would be no difference between the boy and the girl.”
