The government is developing IoT (Internet of Things) graduates through the internationally reputed company to face the challenges arising due mainly to the emergence of fourth industrial revolution (4IR).
Some 118 IoT graduates have already been developed through DataSoft, a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)-5 level company and imparting training to develop another batch of 122 graduates under a programme titled ‘IoT Army of 300’.
“We are putting emphasis on creating non-traditional employment as the many traditional types of job will be vanished due to emergence of emerging technologies,” said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, reports BSS.
Addressing a function organized by DataSoft at the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) on Tuesday he said the emerging technologies, including IoT, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, block chain will dominate the job market and vanish the traditional types of job in future.
“The government is taking preparation to meet this challenge and providing support to reputed companies to create IoT and AI graduates,” Palak said, adding that Bangladesh’s progress in IT faced a setback due to failure of BNP government in establishing internet connectivity through the submarine cable in 1992.
Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project and Hi- Tech Park under ICT Division are providing financial assistance to DataSoft to create 300 IoT graduates.
Project Management Specialist of LICT Project Sarkar Abul Kalam Azad said the LICT project also made a partnership with the US based Augmedix and BJIT to provide training on medical scribe and block chain. “We are happy that the youngsters who received training on IoT have developed some software based solutions like air quality measurer and smart trolley,” he said.
The DataSoft Managing Director Mahboob Zaman said DataSoft is managing 10,000 smart houses in Japan and those who are getting training on IoT are being provided with jobs.
Managing Director of Dhaka WASA Engineer Taqsem A Khan and Director General of Power Cell Engineer Mohammad Hossain also spoke at the function.
Later, the state minister handed over certificate to 90 graduates who have received IoT training in the second batch.
