Govt pledge-bound to protect child rights

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki on Thursday said the present government is pledge-bound to protect child rights. The government has formulated National Child Policy 2013, Child Labour Policy and laws to stop human trafficking, she said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of a workshop to formulate an action plan to stop violence against children.
South Asian Initiative To End Violence Against Children in Bangladesh organized the workshop at BIAM auditorium in the city. Presided over by Deputy Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Dr. M. Aminul Islam, the function was also addressed by the ministry’s secretary Tariq Ul Islam, South Asian Initiative To End Violence Against Children President Tahmina Begum, Director General Dr. Rinchen Chopel and National Action Coordination Group Bangladesh President AKM Masud Ali. The state minister said child rights would have to be given importance while taking any decision and making any law in the country.
