The government is taking various welfare projects for the expatriates.
“These are housing, hospitals and diagnosis centers, life insurance and different educational facilities, among others,” said Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam.
He said it at a view exchange meeting with the expatriates in the Bangladesh Embassy in Athens of Greece on Tuesday last.
Md. Jasim Uddin, Bangladesh Ambassador to Greece, presided over the meeting. Dr. Farhana Noor, Counselor for Labour, Bangladeshi businessmen and many dignitaries were present on the occasion.
The minister said, we are grateful to the expatriates for their great contribution to our national economy.
“The government is taking more welfare projects for the expatriates and their family members. We have established expatriate welfare desk and introduced ambulance services for them at the airports,” the minister said.
The government has introduced quota system in the higher studies for the children of the wage earners working abroad.
The minister assured them of a separate housing project in the districts of most overseas workers.
A video inspiring the Bangladeshis living abroad to send remittance in legal ways was projected after the meeting. The minister greeted also the expatriates, who secured remittance award from the Greece Embassy last December.
