Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, MP, said here on Wednesday they have decided to provide pregnant mothers with free ambulance service. “We have decided to give free ambulance service to pregnant mothers. The family inmates of the pregnant women can contact with local hospitals to get the service, he said at a press briefing at secretariat here.
“Necessary directives have already been sent to each of the hospitals across the country,” he said, adding that stern action will be taken in case of negligence of providing the service. “ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and CCU (Coronary Care Unit) will be set up at 20 district sadar hospitals considering their population and age during the current 2014-2015 fiscal year,” the minister said.
“Many patients would have to come to Dhaka from different corners of the country as there are no ICU and CCU facilities in the local hospitals, he added.
