UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Saturday alleged that the government is trying to hush up various misdeeds of members of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
“The law enforcers, especially RAB members, have turned out to be a terrible vigilante force…the current illegal government is trying to hide the limitless misdeeds of the force (RAB),” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a press briefing at BNP’ s Nayapaltan central office.
Rizvi criticised the government for what he said withdrawing Brahmanbaria senior judicial magistrate Nazmun Nahar from the cognizance court as she ordered police to accept a case against RAB men. “It has proved that Rab personnel are committing various misdeeds at the behest of the government.”
The BNP leader came down heavily on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her
recent remark that BNP founder Ziaur Rahman would have been made an accused in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case had he been alive.
In a counter attack, Rizvi raised a question why former president Ziaur Rahman had been killed 13 days after Sheikh Hasina’s homecoming.
Referring to a report of Indian newspaper, Daily Sunday, about the plot of Zia’s killing, Rizvi said the report that had been published a few years back also raised many questions in public minds as to why was Zia assassinated only 13 days after you ( Hasina) entered Bangladesh?”
He also asked the Prime Minister why she was trying to cross the country’s border on the day of Zia’s murder wearing a veil. “The truth can’t be hid. The truth can never become a past.”
“We want to clearly tell her (PM), many more allegations will be raised in the future if the identities of killers and masterminds of Ziaur Rahman’s assassination get exposed,” the BNP joint secretary general said.
He urged the Prime Minister to be aware of those Awami League leaders who are trying to appease her by spreading falsehood against BNP leaders and the Zia family and attacking them in a louder voice.
