A total of 22 Jute mills are now in operation under the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) and one Jute mill is financially profitable.
Textile and Jute Minister Muhammad Imaj Uddin Pramanik today said this while replying to a starred question by treasury bench lawmaker M Nazrul Islam Babu of Narayanganj-2 at the house here.
At present, a total of 22 jute mills are now running under BJMC, said the minister, adding that one jute mill-Forat Kornofully Carpet Factory, Rangunia in Chittagong is profitable and other 21 jute mills are non profitable.
