Awami League general secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said the government is not inhuman over BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s treatment and she would get proper treatment as per the jail code.
“The government will take all necessary steps for her (Khaleda) proper treatment according to the advice of the medical board,” he said.
The minister was addressing the council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Dhaka University (DU) unit as the chief guest at Teachers-Student Center (TSC) on the campus.
“The government had no role in imprisoning Khaleda Zial. It’s totally a matter of the court. I’m not clearly informed about her illness. But if she needs any treatment, the government will take all the steps as per the jail code,” said Quader.
BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag inaugurated the council while DU BCL unit president Abid Al Hasan presided over it.
AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak and organising secretary Enamul Huq Shamim were presented as special guests. It was moderated by DU BCL unit general secretary Motahar Hossain Prince.
