Staff Reporter :Fresh earthquakes may hit Bangladesh and this region for the next few decades, experts predicted.Dr Mehedi Ahmed Ansary, Professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology [BUET] said that Bangladesh should be prepared to overcome such situation with minimizing loss.He said, “It’s a natural cycle while only six quakes jolted the region in between 1869 and 1930. The epicentre has been moving from fault lines of Nepal to Assam since 1869, it may again rotate from the opposite direction.”He said his prediction may differ based on changesin the ground because it is a natural process. He stressed the need for immediate action from the government to minimize losses during the post-tremor period.”We have already put our recommendations to the government and hope those will be implemented without delay,” he said.
