Chittagong Bureau :Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Bangladesh Surendra Kumar Sinha said, the Government is mulling to set up a High Court bench in Chittagong very shortly, but it will take some times. He disclosed it while addressing a view exchange meeting with the Chittagong Lawyers Association at Chittagong Court Building auditorium yesterday afternoon. The CJ said, there was a circuit bench in Chittagong earlier but later it was withdrawn following the controversy with the Constitution. He also disclosed that similar demands for establishingHC bench in Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barisal also arisen. Chief Justice came at the Chittagong court building at 11 am and went round different courts of tribunals, district and metropolitan judge courts and witnessed the trial procedures there. He also met with the district and metropolitan session judge. This is first time of his Chittagong visit since his assumption as Chief Justice on January 17 last. CJ also addressed the judicial conference arranged at Circuit House conference hall in the evening.CJ will leave for Khagrachari today (Thursday)morning and will back in Chittagong Friday for onward journey to Dhaka. Mentionable that CJ will joint a religious function at Chittagong on Friday.
