The government has prepared Wind Modeling by conducting wind research in different beach and river areas of the country aimed at attracting more investment in the power sector.
The power division organised a workshop on Wind Resource Mapping at Bidyut Bhaban with power division secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus in the chair.
Prime Minister’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Advisor Dr Towfiq-E-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram delivered his speech as the chief guest while State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid was present as the special guest.
The research work was conducted at Rajshahi, Inani beach, Shitakunda, Sadpur, Rangpur, Mirzapur, Parki beach of Mymensingh and Mongla on ‘SODAR I’ and 80 M MET method.
The findings of the research work developed wind modeling across the country which will help investors for investment.
Tawfiq-E-Elahi Chowdhury said, “We have to take initiatives to train our people in this regard and Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) would take steps.”
The state minister said the government is encouraging the use of renewable energy and production, adding, “It is necessary to work quickly to get mapping planning, formulating policies for results and realistic plan will be taken right now for encouraging investors.”
