Engineer Monowar Hossain Chowdhury, MP has said farmers friendly present government has been striving hard for the welfare of the whole farmers of the country.
The government adopted agri rehabilitation and agri incentive programmes for the flood affected farmers to recover their losses.
The lawmaker made the comments as chief guest at a virtual meeting with officials of Gobindaganj upazila agriculture office and upazila administration to mark the distribution of seed and fertilizers among the flood affected farmers.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Latif Prodhan was present at the function as special guest.
Presided over by UNO Ramkrishna Barmon, the function was also addressed among others by Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Mortoba Ali Manik, General Secretary of Gobindaganj Press Club Jahidur Rahman Jadu, Sub Assistant Plant Protection Officer Mostafizur Rahman, Acting Chairman of Shalmara Union Parishad Md. Ayub Ali.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Khaledur said 6500 flood affected small and marginal farmers of the upazila had been brought under the agri rehabilitation program and 2785 farmers under agri incentive programme who would be provided with seeds of various robi crops including mustard, wheat, maize, onion, sun flower, and hybrid paddy free of cost to farm one bigha of land.
The speakers urged the farmers to sow the seed of robi crops on their land timely and nurture the crop field properly to get desired output against the crops.
Later, they distributed seed of robi crops and chemical fertilizers-murate of potash and di ammonium phosphate among 9285 farmers of the upazila.
