Staff Reporter :
The BNP on Saturday claimed that the government made the country a failed state.
“This government is not elected by the people. They occupied power by force. They have sold out itself to the super powers of the globe as a result the country turned into a failed state,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir while addressing the token hunger strike programme in the party’s Nayapaltan office.
He said that this government is working with a motive to make Bangladesh as a subservient country dependent on others.
“The government and the ruling party leaders are working as service providers of the super powers,” he said.
BNP Nababganj and Dohar Upazila units observed a one-hour token hunger strike from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on the ground floor of BNP’s Nayapaltan Central office demanding the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s immediate release and better treatment.
The BNP Secretary General also said that the mastermind of the Subornochar
gang-rape secured bail which is an alarming matter.
“When hundreds of our party leaders denied bails in their false political cases then the gang-rape mastermind’s bail make us anxious,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BNP Secretary General also addressed a memorial meeting of distinguished Poet Al Mahmud at the Jatiya Press Club on the day.
Mirza Fakhrul said, Al Mahmud was a great poet of the nation. He showed the nation the right path.
The BNP leader also asked the people to be united and start fight against the ‘unelected’ government.
Pro-BNP cultural forum JASAS arranged the programme.
