BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday accused the government of looting public money by importing ineffective insecticide spray to kill mosquito.
“The country has long been facing dengue problem. Why has not the government taken preventive measures before the monsoon?
You’ve imported ineffective mosquito-killing medicines and plundered crores of taka,” alleged Rizvi Ahmed.
Speaking at a rally in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he said that the two city corporations had failed to exterminate mosquitoes owing to corruption in procuring insecticide that has led to a serious outbreak of dengue fever.
Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal brought out the rally to raise awareness among people about dengue prevention and press for the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “People are suffering and they are rushing to hospitals for treatment, but the two mayors are making unguarded remarks instead of taking effective steps.”
He said, the government is also demonstrating an irresponsible attitude in tackling the crisis. “The Health Minister has gone to Malaysia ignoring the country’s crisis.”
