District administration of Chittagong recovered Government land measuring about 1.76 acres from illegal possession by demolishing about 150 kutcha and semi pucca houses in city area on Monday .
A eviction team of district administration led by Executive Magistrate Md.Shahdat Hossain demolished about 150 dwelling houses illegally built in Amin Jute Mills area under Baizid thana in city .
The eviction drive begins at 11 am which continued upto 2.30 pm , sources said. A local sources said in last few years , govt has not undertaken any measures against the illegal possessions of govt land and hence huge numbers of kutcha, pucca and semi pucca houses built up within the areas of govt owned Amin Jute Mills by the local influentials lack of proper supervision .
The approximate cost of the recovered land is about Tk.16 cr , sources said. District administration sources said the illegal occupiers have been asked to remove their houses illegally build 15 days before but the illegal occupiers did not heed to the notice of the administration. Sources said similar eviction drive will also be launched gradually in this areas to recover the govt lands .
