“Some positive indications have been noticed in the index of this year’s results of SSC and equivalent examinations. Different initiatives, including distribution of free textbooks in time, broadcasting teaching sessions on television by the teachers of the country’s best schools and anti-cheating campaigns of the Education Ministry played a vital role in this regard,” he said at a press conference at the Secretariat here after announcing the SSC results.
The exams of 23 subjects were held through creative method this year, the minister said, adding that the answer sheets of all education boards were evaluated in an identical process.
Chief examiners were given training and directives for evaluating the answer sheets properly, Nahid said. Alongside the increased participation of science students in the exams, the pass rate has also increased, he observed.
The participation and pass rate of female examinees have increased in this year’s exams of general education boards compared to their male counterparts, the minister said, adding that the pass rate of female students is 2.14 per cent more than the male students in all education boards.
The students with disabilities were given extra opportunities during the examinations to inspire them to continue their studies, he said.
